Our Mission
At Haygood Memorial, our mission is simple and bold:
to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
We share the saving love of God found in Jesus and walk alongside one another as we grow more like Christ each day.
Our Method
We believe discipleship is a journey shaped by five essential practices:
Prayers · Presence · Gifts · Service · Witness
Prayers
God works in the world and in our lives through prayer—both personal and gathered. We want to help you build a strong and faithful foundation for your prayer life.
Presence
God is a God of presence. In Jesus, God came to live among us. We believe disciples are called to show up—faithfully and joyfully—in worship, study, and community.
Worship: We are created to praise God. Worship helps us experience God’s grace and give thanks together.
Study: The word disciple means “student.” We grow more like Christ when we study Scripture in community. Opportunities are available for children, youth, and adults.
Community: If you’re new, check out Haygood 101 (a three-week introduction offered quarterly) or join us for Dinner with the Pastor, a casual evening in the pastor’s home.
Gifts
Each person has a spiritual gift from God—teaching, singing, prayer, service, administration, even spreadsheets! We are called to use our gifts for God’s mission in the world.
Financial giving is also an essential practice of discipleship. It is one of the most sacrificial and generous ways we support the church’s ministry.
Service
Jesus said, “I did not come to be served, but to serve” (Matthew 20:28). We encourage disciples to serve both inside and outside the church.
Inside the church: Serve as a greeter, usher, or children’s and youth ministry volunteer.
Beyond the church: Join a Habitat for Humanity build, serve with Intown Cares Ministries, provide Christmas gifts through our Angel Tree initiative or participate in our other outreach ministries.
Witness
Disciples share their faith with others. God longs to reach new people with the good news of Jesus Christ. We witness by telling our stories, living lives of integrity, and inviting others into the life of the church.
