Woman’s Society of Christian Service and Woman’s Missionary Society

Mrs. Birdie Vandigriff Moore - January 22, 1880 to October 21, 1969

One of the 39 charter members of Haygood Memorial Church

First President of Woman's Missionary Society at Haygood - elected September 13, 1926

Committee Leadership: Mrs. Moore served alongside Mrs. W.F.
Shell on the church's historical and organizational committees.
Their collaborative work was instrumental in formalizing the congregation's records during the church's transition in the 1920s and early 1930s.

Organizational Work: She was a prominent member of the Women's Missionary Society and the Ladies' Aid Society, groups that Mrs. Shell noted were responsible for the church's early financial stability and community presence in the Morningside area.

Legacy of Service: Mrs. Moore is remembered for her "stubborn guarding" of the church's beginnings, ensuring that the mission work established in 1911 was not extinguished during the years of
"discouragement" before the permanent sanctuary was built.

Reverend B. Frank Pim was a young man, able, enthusiastic, and untiring in the work of the church. He could fill any place in the church. If a pianist was needed, he could serve. If electric lights were to be installed in the Sunday school room, he could and did do it. The young people were very fond of him as well as the older ones. He had a smile that reached entirely across his face and he wore it practically all of the time that he was awake. - Birdie V. Moore
