Children’s Ministry
Welcome to our Children’s Ministry! At Haygood, we believe children are not just the future of the church, they are the church today. Our Children’s Ministry creates a safe, joyful, and faith-filled environment where kids can grow in their love of God, learn the stories of Jesus, and discover what it means to follow him every day. Through worship, Sunday School, service projects, and special events, children build friendships, deepen their faith, and experience God’s grace.
We welcome children of all ages to join us as together we learn, play, and grow in Christ’s love. The safety of our kids is a top priority. Click here to learn more about our Safe Sanctuary policy or to be trained.
From Sunday mornings to Wednesday nights, there’s a place for your little one(s) to learn and grow.
Our Programs:
Sunday School (3 years-5th grade)
Sunday Mornings August to May | 9:45-10:45 | Check-in in Gym Lobby
Our Children’s Sunday School welcomes kids ages 3 through 5th grade into a safe, joyful classroom environment where faith is nurtured through relationship and play. We use United Methodist endorsed curriculum, ensuring each lesson is rooted in Scripture and aligned with the theology and values of the United Methodist Church.
Each Sunday, children enjoy fun games, hands-on crafts, and age-appropriate activities, all connected to the Scripture lesson for the day. Classes are designed to help children learn about God’s love, grow in faith, and build friendships within our church community.
Sunday School Classes Include:
3 Years – Kindergarten: Room 101
1st & 2nd Grade: Room 205
3rd–5th Grade: Gym Stage
Children’s Church (3 years to 2nd grade)
Children’s Church meets following Children’s Moments. It is open for children ages 3 years to 2nd grade. Kids ages 3 years through 2nd grade will dismiss to the gym for scripture study and fellowship that is geared toward them. Like adult worship, Children’s Church is grounded in the beloved Bible stories and lessons. Parents pick their children up from the gym lobby after worship.
Pick up will be in the Gym Lobby. In keeping with our Safe Sanctuaries policy, parents are not permitted in the Gym for pickup. Please approach the gym door for a quick dismissal. We thank you for help keeping Children’s Ministries safe and organized.
Worship Readiness (3rd graders)
What is a sacrament?
Why does the color of the altar cloth change?
Why does Ms. Caroline give parents a shell after a baptism?
What does it mean to be United Methodist?
Rev. Christy Haase will answer all these questions and more during our worship readiness class starting in August running through the fall.
This 6-week class will prepare our "big kids" to understand what is going on and what makes up a worship service. This knowledge will deepen their faith formation as they prepare to fully participate in the worship hour.
Nursery (6 weeks to 3 years)
We have a nursery available during worship for infants aged 6 weeks through 2 years. Drop off and pick up in the nursery hallway (hallway in the front of the sanctuary)
All nursery staff are CPR and first aid certified and have been background checked.
Please review the following important protocols:
· Nursery (6 weeks to 3 years) drop off/pick up in nursery hallway.
· Children’s Church (3 years to 2nd grade) pick up is in the gym lobby. On Communion Sundays, children are brought back into the Sanctuary.
· In keeping with our Safe Sanctuary policies we thank you for not entering the gym or nursery room.

This time is designed to encourage friendship, joyful play, and connection within our church community. For inquiries or more information, contact Caroline Enright.
Club 345 (3rd-5th grade)
Wednesday Evenings August to May | 6:15-7:00 p.m. | The Living Room
Our 3rd–5th graders dive into engaging Bible trivia designed to build confidence with Scripture. Through fun, age-appropriate games and challenges, children will learn how to use a Bible, understand where to find books, chapters, and verses, and strengthen their knowledge of key stories and teachings. This class empowers kids to navigate the Bible with both curiosity and skill. Please contact Caroline Enright with any questions.
Volunteers
Excellent programs require excellent volunteers! Contact Caroline Enright to sign up to assist! It is required by Haygood’s Safe Sanctuary Policy that anyone who works with children must be Safe Sanctuary-certified.
