Serve in the Community
We have a variety of ways that we are involved within our own community, as well as communities across the world. Review the programs below and let us know how you would like to be involved. We’d love to have you join us.
Haygood is a sponsoring congregation of the Intown Collaborative Ministries Food Pantry. Every Saturday, food is distributed to residents of the 30306 and 30307 ZIP codes who are in need. You are asked to bring in canned soup, Ramen noodles, juice and powdered drink mix packages, snacks and other nonperishable items. Drop off your contributions at your convenience — just look for the blue bins in the gym lobby. You can also volunteer to work at Intown’s Food Pantry any Saturday (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.).
Habitat For Humanity
Each Fall, Haygood works with other churches to build a Habitat House for a worthy family in the Atlanta area. Look for information about our next project in the future.
Winter Clothing Drive
Every fall the Haygood Missions Committee sponsors a warm clothing drive that culminates in a service event following Wednesday Night Supper in the Haygood gym. We sort, fold and pack all the donated clothing, before delivering it to the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children and the Intown Collaborative Ministries’ Clothing Closet. It is then distributed to needy Atlantans for use during the winter months. At the request of the shelters, we occasionally ask for new underwear and socks.
Be a Haygood Angel for a needy elementary student this Christmas! The Morningside Elementary School Counseling Office has identified several MES students from financially disadvantaged families that will receive the gift of your generosity this Christmas.
