BOOK DRIVE FOR GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

Georgia prisons’ libraries currently have a shortage of available books for the inmates in facilities around the State. From September 15 thru October 6, Haygood will collect books to donate. Both hardbacks and paperbacks are accepted, in a range of reading levels from elementary school chapter books to adult. Please drop your donations in the labeled bins located in the gym lobby.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Donate one Saturday this fall to building a home for the Armstead family!

This fall Haygood will again join with 6 other churches to build a Habitat for Humanity home for a worthy Atlanta family! Charise Armstead, her 5 children and grandson will have a new home at 169 Hyacinth Ave. NW in Atlanta.  We will dedicate it on Saturday, November 23rd.  We need  volunteers each of the 8 Saturdays, October  5 through November  23, to meet in the Haygood parking lot at  7:15 a.m. and carpool to the site. We will leave the site no later than 3:30 p.m. If you’ve never worked on a Habitat house, this may appear to be outside your “comfort zone.” If you have, you know that the internal reward far outweighs the momentary aches and strains.   We will join with volunteers from: Ben Hill UMC, Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Cathedral of Christ the King, Decatur Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta and Our Lady of Lourdes     Catholic Church .  Haygood has 5 slots for each Saturday, so sign up now to get the date you want! The Haygood signup page is: http://haygood.atlantahabitat.volunteerhub.com/.  Want to acquire a  particular building skill? Each day’s assignments are listed on the signup page.
