Our mission at Haygood

We have the same mission Jesus gave his disciples. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We want to share the incredible and saving love of God found in Jesus and to help you become more like Christ each day.

Our Vision

We want to help you become a committed disciple through these 5 essential practices:

PRAYERS

PRESENCE

GIFTS

SERVICE

WITNESS

PRAYERS: God works through our lives and the world through gathered and personal prayer. We are here to help you build a solid foundation for your prayer life.

PRESENCE: God is a God of presence. God became present with us by sending his son Jesus into the world. We believe a disciple should be present in the life and ministries of the church.

Your presence is especially important in worship. We are created to give back praise to God. Our worship life helps us experience God’s grace and offer our thanks.

We grow in our faith through faithful presence in Bible study and small group ministry. In fact, the word “disciple” means student. We become more like Christ by studying his word in community. We encourage children, youth and adults to participate in educational opportunities. You can find out about adult small group opportunities here. For newcomers, we encourage you to attend “Haygood 101” which is a quarterly 3 week introduction to our church. We also offer a quarterly “Dinner with the Pastor” for newcomers in the pastor’s home.

GIFTS: Disciples use their gifts. Each person has a spiritual gift from God. These gifts include (but are not limited to) teaching, singing, administration, prayer, service, excel spreadsheets. God wants you to use those gifts in service to God. A disciple also gives financially to God’s ministry. Giving to God’s church is one of the most sacrificial and generous ways to support our mission. You can find out more about giving by clicking here.

SERVICE: A disciple serves others. Jesus taught us he did not come to “be served, but to serve” (Matthew 20:28). We encourage you to serve in one area within the church and one area outside the church. You might consider serving as a greeter, usher, children’s and youth volunteer. Throughout the year, we offer ways to serve outside the church including working on a Habitat for Humanity home and serving the needs of the poor in our area.

WITNESS: A disciple shares their faith with others. God desires to reach new people with the good news of Christ. We can help share through telling our faith story and inviting people to church.

A Place for You

We believe God has good news for you. We have a mantra at Haygood. There’s a place for you. And there is. There’s a place for you to become a disciple and live the abundant life God has in store for you.
