Visiting Haygood

Whether you're simply exploring or seriously looking for a "church home," you're welcome at Haygood. Worship is usually the place to start, and we have a number of other ministries throughout the week where you can connect.

Maybe you've heard of us by now, maybe not. If you're in Morningside area, listen for our chimes. We're known as the church on the hill and the one right next to Morningside Elementary. Sunken Garden park is across the street from us. We promise it's only a matter of time before you hear about our children's, youth, and recreation ministries.

Parking | Directions

Parking is free and usually isn't a problem. You can park on the street on Sundays. The sanctuary, administrative building, and gym are located across Sussex Road. Be careful crossing the street - the speed table acts as a good crosswalk.

Q&A for Visiting on Sundays

When should I arrive?

Worship begins at 10:55 a.m., with some exceptions on special holidays. Fellowship coffee begins at 9:30 a.m. in the gym, and it's a good place to find out where classrooms are for children, youth, and adult Sunday School groups.

What is the style of worship?

Haygood worships in a traditional fashion, with robed clergy, acolytes, and choir, as well as traditional liturgy including creeds, prayers, and sermon. We usually follow the Revised Common Lectionary, a three year cycle of scripture readings following the annual outline of the Christian year and celebrating the central mystery of our faith: the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Does Haygood have a nursery?

Yes! The nursery is available every Sunday morning from 9:30 a.m. through the end of worship. (It's also available every Wednesday night from 6 to 9 p.m.) The nursery welcomes infants aged 6 weeks through 2 year olds. When you arrive, you'll sign in, pick up a pager, complete a name tag sticker, and keep a numbered receipt. Please bring a bag with at least 1 diaper for each hour, a labeled bottle or sippy-cup, and a change of clothes.
