How do I become a member at Haygood?
Membership is integral to personal growth and for developing a deeper commitment to God and neighbor. Members are bound in sacred covenant through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
If you're interested in becoming a member of Haygood, a good first step is to contact us to meet with one of our pastors. You'll get to know us better, ask questions, and learn expectations regarding membership.
All people may attend worship, participate in our ministries, receive the sacraments, and become members. Our membership includes all people who have been baptized and all who have professed their faith.
If you're moving from another United Methodist church, have them send us your letter of transfer.
Baptism
Baptism is the sacrament of initiation and incorporation into the Church. Because baptism is a gift of God's grace, people of all ages are baptized - infants, children, and adults. The baptized are nurtured in the meaning of faith, the rights and responsibilities of their baptism, and their spiritual formation.
Profession of Faith
Professing faith in Jesus Christ publicly is an essential step in responding to God's calling. Because membership means joining a covenant community, persons join by profession of faith at the end of Sunday worship services.
